Passerelle Schweiz: Passerelle, was ist das und was sind die Vorteile?
Passerelle Switzerland: Passerelle, what is it and what are the advantages?
The "Passerelle Switzerland" is a supplementary examination for people with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate or Specialized Baccalaureate in order to be admitted to Universities. Anyone who passes the Passerelle exam organized by SERI can begin studying at a university or University of Teacher Education. Adults can thus study at a university or FIT without a Baccalaureate. The examinations take place twice a year in the three language regions. Although the "Passerelle Schweiz" certificate is not legally a baccalaureate certificate, together with the vocational baccalaureate certificate or the specialized baccalaureate certificate, it allows access to all Swiss Universities and all fields of study. Admission to foreign Universities is possible where this certificate is voluntarily recognized as a supplementary examination. There is no obligation to attend a preparatory course (part-time or full-time - public or private) and so preparation for the "Passerelle Schweiz" supplementary examination can be done on a self-study basis or via a six-month or year-long preparatory course. The costs for this range from CHF 900 to CHF 20,000. In contrast to the Gymnasium, the Passerelle does not allow time for in-depth reflection on the subject matter due to the shorter duration of the course.
