Does everyone have to take a German placement test?
In principle, you don't have to take a placement test if you don't want to, but almost all German schools will offer you one free of charge and without obligation. Take up this offer, as this is the only way you can be sure that you will be placed in the German course that corresponds to your level and in which you can learn the maximum amount of German. However, such a test is not necessary for people who do not yet speak any German, as you should always attend a beginners' course with the designation A0 or A1 at the most.
