Muss ich vor einer Sprachprüfung unbedingt einen Sprachkurs besuchen?

Do I have to attend a language course before taking a language test?

If you intend to have your language skills certified by internationally recognized language diplomas, such as the DELE, the Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera of the Instituto Cervantes, you are not obliged to attend a special diploma course at a Spanish school before registering. There is no doubt that it is also possible to take one of these language exams without having attended a language course beforehand, but this is generally not recommended as the learning effort is much higher, the uncertainty of the person concerned is greater and there is no knowledge of the content, structure and procedure of the exam. Participants without a preparation course are significantly more nervous and more likely to make careless mistakes, as they usually do not know what to expect or whether they have actually learned exam-relevant material. Language schools usually carry out exam simulations to prepare participants for the exam and usually have exams from previous years to give them an idea of what to expect. It can therefore only be to your advantage to attend a language course at a Spanish school, also to practise your oral communication.
