Do I have to do a vocational preparation year to become a childcare worker?
A vocational preparation year (BVJ) in childcare is not mandatory for an apprenticeship as a childcare worker with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (Federal VET Diploma). The BVJ is particularly recommended for school leavers who have not yet been able to conclude an apprenticeship contract or who are still very unsure about their career choice.
