Do I have to take an exam to become a timber construction foreman?
Yes, the timber construction foreman qualification has been a federal professional examination since 2021. This replaces the association examination that was held by Holzbau Schweiz, the Association of Swiss Timber Construction Companies, Baukader Schweiz and the Fédération romande des entreprises de menuiserie, ébénisterie, charpentes, des fabriques de meubles et des parqueteurs (FRM) until 2020. The examination consists of several written and oral parts and lasts a total of 13 hours.
