Can I become a dental hygienist after my training as a dental assistant?
In order to work as a dental hygienist, you must have a diploma from a College of Higher Education (CHE), which you can only attend after completing an apprenticeship. You do not necessarily need to have completed an apprenticeship as a dental assistant for continuing education, further training (VET) as a dental hygienist; other vocational education and training (VET), a certificate from a technical college or a school-leaving certificate are also recognized.
