Can I become self-employed straight after training as a make-up artist?
In principle, you could of course open your own beauty salon with extensive training at a make-up school to become a beautician / make-up artist and apply make-up for a wide variety of occasions on a freelance basis. However, bear in mind that you will not yet have the routine required to deal with customers and, above all, demanding clientele. Administrative tasks and tax law issues may also overwhelm you at first, so it is not a bad idea to start by gaining experience as an employee after training at a make-up artist school and to establish contacts that will make it easier for you to become self-employed afterwards.
