Opening your own massage practice should only be attempted by masseurs and masseuses who have extensive training and have already gained some practical experience. A one-day massage course in a single massage technique, be it hot stone massage or acupuncture massage, is generally not sufficient to run a successful massage practice in the long term. It should also be noted that in some cantons, working as a medical masseur requires a license to practice, which also includes a federal certificate. Wellness massage, on the other hand, does not require a license and can also be pursued by people without a license.
