Can I shorten my apprenticeship with a Baccalaureate?
The shortening of an apprenticeship is not uniformly regulated. However, you are usually exempt from general education classes if you have a Baccalaureate and do not have to take any examinations in these areas. In addition, you can often shorten your apprenticeship by one year, provided the training company agrees and stipulates this in the contract. For the following areas, you can also complete a compact course that leads to the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training after just 2 years:
- Polymechanic
- Electronics technician
- Design engineer
- Automation technician
- Computer scientist
