Ist jedes Studium in Naturwissenschaften gleich lang?

Is every degree course in natural sciences the same length?

How long you need to study depends not least on you, your available time and your motivation. In principle, every degree course has a standard period of study, which is 6 semesters for a Bachelor's degree in natural sciences and 4 semesters for a Master's degree. What is fixed, however, are the credits, ECTS, which are required to obtain a Bachelor's, Master's or other degree from a Universities. For a Bachelor's degree course, the number of ECTS credits is 180, while a Master's degree course comprises 90 or 120 credits. How quickly you achieve these credits can vary greatly. It should be noted that 1 ECTS point corresponds to approximately 30 hours of work or study.

However, the situation is different for continuing education courses such as Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) and Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS), which award very different credits. A Master of Advanced Studies (MAS), on the other hand, usually has 60 ECTS credits, although this does not apply to all continuing education courses in the natural sciences.
