Ich möchte gerne Bauingenieurin werden, habe aber eine Lehre als Malerin mit Berufsmatur gemacht. Geht das trotzdem?

I would like to become a civil engineer, but I did an apprenticeship as a painter with a vocational baccalaureate. Is that still possible?

As a painter with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) and a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, you are not one of the prospective students who will be admitted to the Civil Engineering degree program free of charge. However, you still have the opportunity to start this course, but only after completing a 6 to 12-month internship. This is usually carried out in a civil engineering office or in a public administration, such as the building construction office, as well as on a construction site with a building contractor in order to gain sufficient practical experience. The individual Universities of Applied Sciences will provide you with detailed information on the exact conditions of this additional practical training.
