You can complete a shortened apprenticeship to become a healthcare specialist with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) if you have already worked for more than two years in the social or healthcare sector with an employment relationship of at least 60 percent, are at least 22 years old and can speak German well. In the case of a shortened apprenticeship for adults, you will work in a healthcare facility for two years instead of three and attend nursing school or another vocational school for general education if you do not have an upper-secondary level qualification, as well as vocational training and inter-company courses.
