English courses: Which language exams do diploma courses prepare me for?
Not every language school offers diploma courses for all recognized English exams. In most cases, you can attend English courses that prepare you for the Cambridge exams, these are:
- Key English Test (KET)
- Preliminary English Test (PET)
- Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
- Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
- Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
- Business English Certificate (BEC) - BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage and BEC Higher
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Business Language Testing Service (BULATS)
- Cambridge International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE)
- Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC)
In addition to these English exams, there are also recognized American exams for which you can prepare through English courses. These are
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- Test of English in International Communication (TOEIC)
European language certificates are also becoming increasingly popular, such as the telc language test. Before you register for an English course, you should consider which of these exams you would like to take.
