Englischkurs / Englischkurse Stufen: Was bedeuten die Leistungsniveau-Bezeichnungen? Wie finde ich einen Englisch Kurs für Anfänger?
English course / English course levels: What do the level designations mean? How do I find an English course for beginners?
Each English course is usually labeled with a letter and a number that indicate your previous and target language skills. An English course for beginners has the designation A1, a course for professionals the designation C2. These designations - also known as English course levels - are identical throughout Europe, so you can be sure that you will have the same level B2 here in Switzerland as in a language school in Italy, for example. In the case of an English course for beginners A1, this means that after completing the English course you will be at level A1, not before. The individual levels or English course levels are often subdivided so that you often attend 2 to 3 courses until you have reached the next higher level. Roughly speaking, this division can be made in an English course:
- A1 and A2.1 = elementary language
- A2.2 and A2.3 = language of communication
- B1.1 and B1.2 = conversational language
- B1.3 and B2.1 = language of negotiation
- B2.2 and C1 and C2 = perfect use of language
