Deutsch Kurs A1 bis C2: Was bedeuten die einzelnen Sprachniveaustufen?
German course A1 to C2: What do the individual language levels mean?
Each German course is assigned to a specific language level, ranging from A1 to C2. German course A1 stands for beginners, C2 for experts. This is identical for all European languages, provided that the schools follow the CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This has set binding targets for all levels, which should be achieved at the end of each course. Some schools also offer A0 German courses, which are aimed at people who have no knowledge of German and can neither greet someone (Guten Tag) nor say goodbye (Auf Wiedersehen). Literacy courses are also often offered as German courses aimed at people who can neither read nor write. The classification of German courses is as follows:
- Literacy courses
- A0: without previous knowledge
- A1: Beginners
- A2: Basic level
- B1: Advanced beginner / intermediate level
- B2: Advanced intermediate level
- C1: Very advanced level / Upper intermediate level
- C2: Almost native speaker level / upper level
