Do I need a degree to work as a nutritionist?
This depends on the level at which you want to work. If you want to coach healthy people in their nutrition as a nutrition coach, then a certificate course is usually sufficient.
If you also want to support sick people with their nutrition, then a diploma course to become a nutritionist is usually required. A diploma allows you to work in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, doctors' and community practices or in retirement and nursing homes, or to work independently.
If you would like to work as a nutritionist in teaching, research or in the food and pharmaceutical industry, for example, in addition to your advisory activities, a degree from a university of applied sciences is often required.
