A Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) in the catering or hotel industry is not mandatory for continuing, further training in the catering industry at a College of Higher Education (CHE). As a rule, you can also register for a CHE course with a Federal VET Diploma in another industry, but not for every one. In such cases, a pre-study internship of 9 to 12 months is usually mandatory.
