The medical secretary's tasks are both commercial and medical in nature:

  • Keeping the doctor's appointment calendar and distributing appointments as well as contacting patients by telephone
  • Reception of patients, recording of personal data and administration of medical histories
  • Organization: keeping internal files, archiving data and planning office hours
  • Correspondence: letters, forms and creating tables and graphics
  • Writing reports, certificates and expert opinions from a dictation machine or according to doctors' instructions
  • Management of the materials and medicines warehouse
  • Accounting: Manage fees, carry out accounting transactions, prepare accounts, send reminders, initiate debt collection procedures
  • Insurance: Fill out forms according to instructions for social insurance and health insurance companies
  • Human resources
