Medical secretary tasks: What does a medical secretary do?
The medical secretary's tasks are both commercial and medical in nature:
- Keeping the doctor's appointment calendar and distributing appointments as well as contacting patients by telephone
- Reception of patients, recording of personal data and administration of medical histories
- Organization: keeping internal files, archiving data and planning office hours
- Correspondence: letters, forms and creating tables and graphics
- Writing reports, certificates and expert opinions from a dictation machine or according to doctors' instructions
- Management of the materials and medicines warehouse
- Accounting: Manage fees, carry out accounting transactions, prepare accounts, send reminders, initiate debt collection procedures
- Insurance: Fill out forms according to instructions for social insurance and health insurance companies
