Nach bestandener Berufsprüfung (BP) erlangen Absolventen und Absolventinnen den eidgenössisch anerkannten Abschluss «Tontechniker / Tontechnikerin mit eidgenössischem Fachausweis».

Ja, derzeit kann die Tontechniker Ausbildung ausschliesslich an der Technischen Berufsschule Zürich in Zusammenarbeit mit FFTON Fachschule für Tontechnik in Zürich, am CFMS in Lausanne sowie am CESMA in Biggio absolviert werden.

Die Tontechniker Ausbildung mit eidg. Fachausweis wird berufsbegleitend innerhalb von 2 Jahren absolviert.

Neben einem guten Gehör, guter psychischer und physischer Belastbarkeit, einem technischen Verständnis, Musikinteresse sowie einer hohen Konzentrationsfähigkeit wird von den Teilnehmenden der Tontechniker Weiterbildung erwartet, dass sie entweder über eine abgeschlossene berufliche Grundbildung in verwandten Gebiet (Multimediaelektroniker/in EFZ, Informatiker/in EFZ, Elektroniker/in EFZ, Veranstaltungsfachmann/-frau EFZ oder Mediamatiker/in EFZ) sowie mindestens 1.5 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der professionellen Audiotechnik verfügen, oder aber bei anderer Berufsausbildung oder gymnasialen Maturität mindestens 2 Jahre erwähnte Berufserfahrung nachweisen können. Mindestens 5 Jahre einschlägige Berufspraxis sind ohne einer dieser Vorbildungen nachzuweisen.

Selbstverständlich können sich auch Tontechnikerinnen weiterbilden, etwa in Fachkursen von Schulen, Firmen und Berufsverbänden, an Privatschulen, Höheren Fachschulen oder Fachhochschulen. So können etwa Tontechniker die Ausbildung zum Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Production oder Elektrotechnik, den Bachelor of Arts in Musik mit Vertiefung Tonmeister/in, Audiodesign oder Medienkunst sowie oder andere interessante Studiengänge wählen.

In der Tontechniker Weiterbildung zum eidg. Fachausweis wird den Teilnehmenden umfangreiches Wissen innerhalb folgender Schwerpunkte vermittelt:
