General education schools for young art and sports talents (secondary levels I and II)

For children and young people with outstanding talent in the fields of sport, dance, ballet, music and visual arts, there areSpecial courses with reduced teaching timeand more self-study. This gives them the opportunity to obtain a regular school-leaving certificate alongside intensive training in their association (or at school, if applicable). In this way, competitive sport or art does not come at the expense of general education - or vice versa.

These courses generally begin at lower secondary level, i.e. after elementary school, and cover the entire period up to the end of compulsory schooling and bridging courses in the 10th school year as well as the 4-5 year Gymnasium.

TheAuthorizationgenerally requires an aptitude test in addition to evidence of outstanding artistic or sporting ability and activity.

TheCostsin private schools start at around CHF 17,000 per year. Some cantons have talent promotion programs and also support attendance at suitable private schools. You can find information on this athttps://www.ch.ch/de/stipendien-und-ausbildungsdarlehen/.
