Smart living: helping to shape the home of the future

Smart living combines digital technologies that use interconnected devices and systems in homes and private living spaces to make users' lives more convenient, safer and more energy-efficient. In short, smart living means an individually networked home that supports residents in managing everyday tasks.

Smart living products are now available in large numbers. These can be used to conveniently control heating, lighting, sun blinds, shutters or multimedia systems from a central display at home or an app on a smartphone while on the move. Smart alarm systems with integrated sensors detect attempted break-ins, switch on the lights, call the number stored in the system (e.g. the residents or police) and record what happens. Smart living also offers older people and those in need of care increased security with an emergency call clock and a networked hands-free system so that they can call for help themselves in the event of an accident. This enables them to live at home for longer, which means quality of life for many.

The implementation of Smart Living requires specialist knowledge depending on the industry, needs and scope. Qualified specialists who have undergone further training on the topic of smart living are in high demand on the job market.
