Smart energy refers to intelligent technologies in the field of sustainable energy and energy management. Such holistic energy solutions encompass all of the following areas and thus cover the entire value chain of the energy industry:

  • Energy conversion
  • Energy storage
  • Energy transfer
  • Consumption control

The advantages of smart energy lie in the optimization of energy consumption, cost savings through innovative energy solutions and integrated, future-proof and expandable energy technologies such as solar, battery storage, heat pumps, e-mobility, smartphone control, etc. The technology is often installed in a smart city - but is also being used more and more frequently elsewhere.

 

A smart energy course will teach you more about energy efficiency with renewable energies. You will then know how efficient energy management works with smart metering, data management, mini-grids and sector coupling. Important tools include smart lighting, smart metering, feedback and efficiency and sufficiency measures.
After the course, participants will understand energy strategies, technologies and use cases for smart energy applications and their challenges in implementing the energy transition. Illustrations are provided through excursions and VR models.

 

With the knowledge you have acquired, you can act as a pioneer of the energy transition and fully commit yourself to the implementation of smart energy. Because one thing is already clear today: sustainable energy has a future!

 

 


Questions and answers

Smart metering means using computers to measure, determine and control energy consumption and supply. Resources and energies such as water, gas or electricity are recorded by intelligent, networked meters (smart energy meters). As electricity meters, they are part of the intelligent electricity network - also known as the smart grid. They are used for both companies and private households (smart homes). In addition to the meters, smart metering systems also consist of additional input and output devices and online applications. In most cases, the data recorded by the smart energy meter is transmitted to a metering service provider. This allows consumption to be determined precisely - which product, at what time and in what quantity. The data can be evaluated and used to optimize water, gas and electricity consumption. Ultimately, this energy management can be used to make the energy industry sustainable thanks to big data.

In a smart energy course, you learn more about sustainable energy and energy management as part of your training or further education. The focus is on the conversion, storage, transmission and consumption control of energy. You will learn about the advantages of smart homes and smart energy systems in detail. Smart Energy Solutions combine the various individual components of sustainable forms of energy into a whole: Photovoltaic system, battery storage, heat pump, charging station for the electric car, etc. The optimized control of all these components results in an ecological energy supply with high energy efficiency. The Smart Energy hot water controller is designed to automatically divert surplus solar energy from photovoltaic systems for hot water preparation. It could also be used for dishwashers or washing machines. A wireless ZigBee controller automatically transfers excess PV energy to the hot water tank. This provides hot water and enables very cost-effective energy storage in the smart home.

Optimizing energy consumption thanks to smart energy control automatically means minimizing costs. Consumption can be made more efficient through optimization, which also turns smart energy into sustainable energy use. The self-consumption manager from Smart Energy Control controls, monitors, evaluates and optimizes all processes in the energy system. The self-consumption manager can significantly increase the efficiency of the system as an intelligent energy system that optimizes performance, manages energy data, optimizes renewable photovoltaic energy and load management for electromobility. This allows load peaks to be optimized through flexible and dynamic load control. Energy and consumption data is managed with extensive visualization, analysis, documentation and reporting functions. Smart Energy Control can also be used to increase supply, planning and cost security and to develop targeted short, medium and long-term energy strategies. Thanks to the connection with Smart Energy Link, self-produced solar power can be used economically and conveniently.

Smart Energy Engineering is about consulting in the field of control technology and energy. This includes the technical area of optimal overall solutions for the integration of photovoltaics, heat pumps and electromobility as well as the associated energy monitoring and smart energy management. These technologies are developing rapidly and constantly offer new possibilities for optimizing self-consumption and for local load management.
