How long does further training to become a "qualified process technician HF" take and how much does it cost?

Duration and procedure

  • The courses at the higher technical colleges for process technicians HF (formerly technicians HF company processes, specializing in logistics) are available both part-time and full-time (including internships).
  • The courses have a modular structure and usually last 4-6 semesters.

Note: People with a higher vocational education qualification (BP/HFP) can benefit from a shortened duration of study at some schools (e.g. enter directly into the 4th semester). This applies, for example, to logistics specialists / process specialists / purchasing specialists with a federal certificate and supply chain managers with a federal diploma.

  • The courses comprise 5,400 learning hours. In addition to attendance time, the learning hours also include time for independent learning or internships.
  • Semester examinations must be taken during the HF course to qualify as a qualified HF process technician.
  • A diploma thesis must be written to complete the HF program. The design of the requirements is the responsibility of the schools and can therefore vary.

Costs

  • The course fees amount to CHF 13,800-24,300.
  • The examination fee and the costs for the diploma thesis are usually included in the course fees.
  • Some providers charge additional costs for training documents, teaching materials or exam repetitions. We recommend that you enquire directly with the provider of your choice to find out what extra costs you can expect.
  • With some HF, it is possible to acquire additional qualifications such as the internationally recognized project management certificate IPMA. The costs amount to CHF 400-800.An overview of the IPMA certificate and its various levels can be found here.
