How well known is the HF degree in process engineering among potential employers? What are the professional benefits of further training?

The HF process technician qualification has been around since 1991 - it is therefore well established among employers. However, the course has had various names during its development: first "Technician HF Logistics" (discontinued in 2020), then "Technician HF Industrial Engineering" (discontinued in 2021) and finally "Technician HF Business Processes, specializing in logistics or industrial engineering" (discontinued in 2022). The current title "Process Technician HF" has been valid since October 2022.

The course is based on the revised "Process Technology" framework curriculum dated October 10, 2022. The framework curriculum is based on

  • Swissmem and Swissmechanic, the two major industry associations in the mechanical, electrical and metal industries
  • the Conference of Higher Technical Colleges KHF-T (representing the training providers)

Together, the three players ensure the quality and practical relevance of continuing education in logistics at universities of applied sciences (HF) that is in demand on the job market.

With a logistics HF degree, you lay the foundation for a promising career with good opportunities for further training. In view of the online shopping boom and the national and international trade in food, goods and industrial parts, graduates of a process technology HF course are in high demand as specialists.

They are experts in the circular economy and create solutions so that, for example, goods can be transported most efficiently from the production site to the distribution depot and on to the customer and then disposed of optimally. They also analyze existing processes with a view to market developments and technical developments and initiate optimization measures where necessary. The demand for HF process technicians is correspondingly high.
