How does the training to become a nature educator work and how much does it cost?

  • Most training courses start with a basic course, which lasts about a year.
  • The classroom training comprises 7-26 days, which are organized individually or as multi-day course blocks and spread over the year.
  • The courses usually take place outdoors. For course blocks lasting several days, the evening program and overnight stays in a tent, tipi, bivouac or stable are part of the training.
  • Self-study and writing a thesis or practical documentation require about the same amount of time as classroom teaching.
  • Some schools require internships or practical visits lasting several days.
  • The course fees range from around CHF 1,000 for the less intensive courses to around CHF 3,500 for the more intensive courses.
