Questions and answers

In der medizinischen Fusspflege kümmern sich Podologen und Podologinnen um kranke und gesunde Füsse, die sie fachgerecht behandeln. Sie befassen sich mit eingewachsenen Nägeln, Hühneraugen und Zehenkorrektur. Anders ist dies bei der Pediküre. Dort werden ausschliesslich gesunde Füsse gehandelt und das Hauptaugenmerk auf die Nägel und die Nagelhaut gelegt.

Damit Sie eine eigene Praxis für die Medizinische Fusspflege eröffnen können, bedarf es zum einen eines Höheren Bildungsabschusses auf HF-Stufe als Podologe / Podologin und zum anderen einer kantonalen Bewilligung der Gesundheits- / Sanitätsdirektion.

In der medizinischen Fusspflege werden sehr unterschiedliche Tätigkeiten ausgeführt - neben der Nagelbehandlung auch das Entfernen von Clavi (Hühneraugen), das Abtragen von Schwielen oder zu viel Hornhaut (Hyperkeratosenbehandlungen), Zehenkorrektur und Druckschutz-Entlastung (Orthesentechnik), Verbandstechnik für Schutz- und Entlastungsverbände, Spangentechnik bei eingewachsenen Fussnägeln (Orthonyxie), Nagelprothetik, Unterschenkel- und Fussmassagen, sowie die Beratung orthopädischer Hilfsmittel und Schuhe. Für die Arbeit mit diabetischen Füssen braucht es eine spezifische Weiterbildung.

Um in der Medizinischen Fusspflege arbeiten zu können, benötigen Sie eine Ausbildung mit EFZ als Podologe oder Podologin.

Wer in der medizinischen Fusspflege Fuss fassen will, der macht eine Ausbildung zum Podologe / zur Podologin mit eidgenössischem Fähigkeitszeugnis. Aufbauend darauf sind verschiedene Weiterbildungen von Fachverbänden oder aber auch an Höheren Fachschulen zum/zur Podologe/-login HF möglich.
