You studied engineering, but have never worked in this field. Why is that?

I studied engineering at the State University of Architecture and Construction in Volgograd, Russia, specifically urban construction and urban economics. However, I never worked as an engineer because that was not the path I really wanted to take. I only studied because my parents wanted me to have a solid degree.

What did you do instead after graduating?

In the same year after graduating from university, I started organizing events in show business. I worked as an event manager for almost four years, traveling through Russia, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and Japan. This time was very enriching for me and I was able to gain a lot of valuable experience. Also linguistically.

What languages do you speak?

My mother tongue is Russian. But I also have a very good knowledge of Spanish and English, am conversationally confident in Italian, as well as in German, for which I passed the telc B2 exam in 2018.

What did you do after your time in event planning?

For six years, I worked as a freelancer in the export and import of renowned sunglasses brands for Italy, Russia and Spain. As Managing Director, I was also responsible for marketing there. At the beginning of 2015, I wanted to take things a little easier and worked as a retail saleswoman in a Guess boutique and as an assistant manager at WATX, where I was responsible for various areas.

Why did you come to Switzerland at the end of 2016?

Back in Madrid, I sold luxury watches from Switzerland to famous actors and footballers, which I found very exciting. The world of luxury goods fascinates me very much, as does the world of event management. However, after 10 years in Madrid, I was looking for a new challenge and found it in Switzerland. I started as a sales consultant and promoter at Partema.

What do you like about your work?

I like the contact with people from different cultures and countries of origin. I enjoy communicating and find it great when I can speak to them in their native language. I have a good feel for people, a talent for sales and many years of international experience in marketing and sales as well as in event management, which always benefits me in all my work.

You decided to complete further training in 2018. Why did you do this?

At the end of 2018, I started training to become a qualified marketing manager NDS-HF, which I will complete at the end of 2019. I wanted to continue my education in marketing management, event management and integrated communication, including online marketing concepts, and was looking for a federally recognized qualification. The postgraduate course at MBSZ Marketing & Business School Zurich convinced me and I can already benefit greatly from the content taught.
