How long does training to become an HR assistant (formerly HR assistant) take? How much do they cost?

Duration, times, lesson formats

Training to become an HR assistant takes between one and two semesters, depending on the type of course offered, and takes place on a part-time basis. At some schools, it is also possible to attend a compact/intensive course, which usually only lasts a few weeks.

Course times vary depending on the provider. Half-day formats are offered in the morning or evening as well as full-day formats per week (incl. Saturday).

Many schools now offer various implementation options, from which you can choose the one that suits you best. The individual formats are often combined with each other: Face-to-face teaching, online teaching, hybrid teaching, blended learning, self-study, etc.

Costs

The following costs are to be expected for the HR assistant training with HRSE certificate:

  • Course costs: Between CHF 1300.- and CHF 4300.-
  • HRSE examination fee (external examination): The examination fee is charged directly by the HRSE and currently amounts to CHF 490 (as of January 2023)
  • Members of the Kaufmännischer Verband or Swissmem benefit from a price reduction of 5% - 10% on the course costs
  • Some providers charge extra for the registration fee, teaching materials, licenses, clarification for admission to the HRSE certificate examination, internal examination simulations and internal examination fees.

Federal contributions:If, after completing the HRSE certificate as an HR assistant, you go on to obtain the federal certificate as an HR specialist within seven years and have not yet received any cantonal contributions for your HR assistant HRSE further training, 50% of the course costs paid (max. CHF 9,500) will be reimbursed by the federal government on application.Find out more here.
