Community animator HF:

The degree course in community animation can be completed at a higher technical college in three or four years. The course is practice-integrated, which means that half of it takes place in a training place and half at school. It is aimed at people who would like to work for other people in a community, social association or institution. Prerequisites for the course are professional experience in the field of community animation or a pre-study internship. The HF diploma degree is federally recognized and provides access to specialist postgraduate courses NDS HF or a Bachelor's degree in social work at a university of applied sciences.

Community animator HF - being present where people meet

Community animation is a more recent field of social work that is located between community work and socio-cultural animation.

The training takes place in a 3- to 4-year course at a higher technical college (HF). It consists of 50% teaching and 50% work at a practical training location and concludes with a federally recognized HF diploma.

Community animators work for municipalities, social institutions such as Gassenarbeit, asylum and unemployment projects, parishes, neighborhood and youth centers, community and senior centers or supervised playgrounds.

They are active where people are or come together in order to support or facilitate their own initiative and self-help activities. They work to promote social cohesion. By incorporating the available resources of those present and ensuring that all participants have a say, they demonstrate how cultural coexistence can be shaped.

Community animators promote social cohesion among the population and improve the quality of life in terms of social and cultural coexistence in the community or neighborhood.

They work to improve the living conditions of the population, especially those of socially disadvantaged groups, and promote participation.

Community animators work in a community and social space-oriented manner. This means that their work is strongly oriented towards the interests and will of local people. They support self-initiative and self-help activities and focus on the resources of the population.

Community animators establish contacts, maintain networks, mediate between local actors, specialist agencies, milieus, age groups, professionals and volunteers, network them with each other and promote dialog between different interest groups.
