Excel skills as part of the ICT user certificates ECDL and SIZ

Excel and MS Office courses are product-related training courses that relate to the use of programs from the American technology company Microsoft Corporation.

If you want to acquire skills in dealing with programs from different manufacturers and with different operating systems, product- or company-independent computer application courses are the right place for you.

Product-independent coursesICT application courses conclude with examinations. Those who pass the exam receive the correspondingICT user certificate. The certificates are suitable as proof of personal ICT knowledge and skills for the job market.

Two product-neutral user certificates have become established in Switzerland: ECDL and SIZ. Both require knowledge of spreadsheets (i.e. MS Excel and related programs) at all levels:

  • ECDLThe European Computer Driving License, or "ECDL" for short, has a modular structure and is defined at three levels (Base, Standard and Advanced) and can be combined to create certificates at four levels. The ECDL is the most relevant IT certificate worldwide, certifying general IT user skills commonly used in today's office work. You can find out morehere.
  • SIZThe Swiss IT Certificate SIZ is known throughout Switzerland and certifies ICT user knowledge at four levels. The modular concept leads to eight different diplomas: two diplomas (Smart User and Advanced User) form the general basis, the other six diplomas allow specialization at two levels each in Office applications, web design or systems and networks.
