Coaching training: What are the main disadvantages?

After the coaching training course, you will be able to support and advise individuals or teams in a professional and/or personal context as a coach. The focus here is on overcoming stress and conflict situations, supporting change processes or reflecting on your own actions with the aim of professional and personal development and increasing well-being.

The main disadvantages of coaching training are

  1. The qualification awarded after coaching training is not a federal certificate. Qualifications from bso (Swiss Professional Association for Coaching, Organizational Consulting and Supervision), EASC, ECA, ICF, SCA etc. are well recognized. Find out exactly what is on offer, the qualification and the associated career opportunities.
  2. At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. However, there are usually regulations for association qualifications. In any case, make sure that the focus of the training is in line with your desired profession (coaching, supervision, organizational consulting, etc.).
  3. Time for preparation and follow-up work, self-study, practice, teaching subsidies and examinations as well as, in some cases, dissertations must be planned for in the private and professional environment.
  4. Even after completing the coaching training, the learning does not stop: If you want to work as a qualified coach, you should ideally continue your education - e.g. by taking a professional examination (as a job coach for work integration).

Graduates generally work as coaches or supervisors, either independently or as employees in a personnel development company.
