People with an HF degree in Business Administration perform the following tasks:

• In accounting:
  • Responsibility for the annual financial statements, balance sheet and income statement
  • Create cost and activity accounts
  • Perform valuation in the case of conversions, capital increases or reorganizations
• Capital procurement and investment calculation for projects and orders
• Application of controlling, information and planning instruments for management purposes
• Review and correction of business performance
• Organization and management at department and team level
• Adaptation of organizational structures and business and support processes
• Developing marketing projects, determining the company's product and sales policy
• Support product managers with the introduction of new products
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance, occupational safety and environmental protection regulations in all process areas
• In computer science:
  • Data organization
  • Data security
  • Data protection
  • Developing, coordinating and managing IT projects
• Responsibility for personnel planning, recruitment and development within your own department

A business economist HF has the following responsibilities:

• Implementation of the management's objectives
• Accounting
• Marketing
• Computer science

As a business economist HF you have the following skills:

• Upper management
• Work in SMEs or large companies
• perform demanding specialist and management tasks

The following requirements must be met to study Business Administration HF:

• Completion of three years of basic vocational training as a commercial clerk EFZ and/or vocational baccalaureate or diploma from a commercial secondary school and at least two years of commercial work experience

or

• Completion of another three-year basic vocational training program and three years of commercial work experience as well as proof of the necessary basic commercial knowledge through additional qualifications or admission examinations

or

• Completion of a high school diploma and three years of commercial work experience

During your studies, you must provide evidence of at least 50 percent relevant professional activity.

As a qualified business economist HF, you have the following opportunities for further development:

• Higher professional examination as an expert in accounting and controlling, head of human resources, expert in organizational management, auditor, fiduciary expert, tax expert, etc.
• Bachelor of Science FH in Business Administration with various specializations. Various universities of applied sciences offer HF graduates the option of a shortened course of study.
• Postgraduate courses at universities of applied sciences and universities of applied sciences in the fields of accounting and finance, marketing and sales management, real estate management, leadership and management, etc.

At a university of applied sciences, a business economist course lasts six semesters. The HF course is part-time. Upon successful completion, you will receive the federally recognized title "Dipl. Betriebswirtschafter/in HF".
