How do I become an application developer?

If you want to become an application developer, you must have completed elementary school and should have good scientific, linguistic and mathematical skills. If these requirements are met, an apprenticeship as a computer scientist specializing in application development with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) is recommended for entry into application development. This 4-year apprenticeship is offered by banks, insurance companies, software development companies or other large companies. Schooling takes place in vocational schools, vocational colleges or in inter-company courses. IT colleges also offer IT apprenticeships with an integrated Federal Vocational Baccalaureate.

Career changers have the opportunity to obtain the Federal VET Diploma as a computer scientist within 2 years. This offer is aimed at adults who either have a school-leaving certificate or who have already been working in the field of application development for 1-3 years or want to work there and are aiming for a recognized qualification.
