How are the ICDL certificates (formerly ECDL certificates) structured in detail?

In addition to the Typing Skills Certificate, there are four other ICDL certifications. Below you will get an insight into the content. The ICDL basic certificate consists of the following four modules, all of which you must complete in order to pass the exam:

  • Computer basics
  • Online basics
  • Word processing
  • Spreadsheet calculation

The ICDL Standard certificate comprises three additional modules that are added to the Base modules. This certificate is an extension of the Base and certifies that you have secure user knowledge in more than just the basic applications. You can choose three of these ICDL modules:

  • Use databases
  • Presentation
  • Online collaboration
  • IT security
  • Image processing

The ICDL Advanced certificate consists of four modules, one of which you can choose. Achieving this certificate certifies that you have advanced knowledge. These modules are:

  • Word processing
  • Spreadsheet calculation
  • Database
  • Presentation

With three advanced modules that you can choose from, it is possible to obtain the ICDL Expert certificate, which is considered the most demanding certificate.
