How long does training in long-term care take?
There are various training courses in long-term care and long-term nursing in Switzerland, which have different durations.
- Federal Professional Examination to become a specialist in long-term care and support:Here, a duration of 1 - 1.5 years must be expected. The preparatory courses for the FPE are completed on a part-time basis.
- Specialist courses leading to a "school certificate / diploma (cert.)":These often only last a few days.
- Study in the field of nursing:A Bachelor's degree course at a University of Applied Sciences (full-time) is expected to take 3 years.
- Postgraduate courses at Universities:Extra-occupational continuing education courses such as CAS often last 1 - 2 semesters, an MAS takes around 2 to 3 years.
