How is training to become an early childhood educator structured?

The training is part of vocational education and training (VET)Specialist in childcare (FaBe) specializing in childrenand concludes with the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma). The apprenticeship lasts 3 years or 2 years for adults with relevant previous education.
You will be taught theory three half-days a week at the vocational college and can apply and supplement the knowledge you have acquired in practice on the other working days at your training company. During your school-based training, you will be taught general knowledge and work-related skills, such as: Work techniques, people and development, communication, day-to-day care, companionship, cooperation, ethics, organization, framework conditions, quality and professional role. If you perform very well at school, you can attend the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate during your apprenticeship and work towards the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, which is a prerequisite for admission to a University of Applied Sciences.
