The two-year training to become a qualified air traffic control specialist HF consists of basic training in the first year for both specializations (AIM and ATM) and subsequent specialization. In the first four months, basic theoretical training is followed by eight months of practical training in the helpdesk and flight planning service, as well as an introduction to other air traffic control operating units. The knowledge of operating procedures and systems acquired during the practical training is put into practice directly on site. Building on this, the prospective air traffic control specialists specialize in either AIM or ATM and complete their training with a diploma thesis.
