Wie hoch ist der Zeitaufwand für eine Ausbildung zum Maltherapeuten / zur Maltherapeutin?

How much time does it take to train as a painting therapist?

Basic training in painting therapy takes between two and four years. You can expect a time commitment of at least 540 hours, but usually significantly more, which you will complete in the form of contact hours. In addition, there is project work, study groups, case studies, intensive modules, learning therapy sessions, supervision, self-awareness, a dissertation and at least 600 hours of self-study, usually significantly more. Training for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Art Therapy takes between two and five years, depending on the school. In the case of continuing education, further training lasting five years, for example, the contact lessons may take 1400 hours and the self-study 1500 hours. For a three-year course, some schools require 900 and 950 hours plus additional hours such as an internship, emergency course or study week. The time required for training in painting therapy or art therapy can therefore vary greatly and should always be adapted to your time budget so that you can continue to work full-time or reduced hours if necessary.
