Which course is best for language beginners?
If you have no or very little knowledge of French, it is advisable to attend a language course at a French school that is specifically designed for beginners. These are usually labeled A1 or, for example, A1 (1/3), which means that this is the first of three courses at level A1. You do not need any previous knowledge for these courses, but you do for all further courses, whether A1 (2/3) or already A2 or B1. If you are not sure what level your French is at, most schools offer free placement tests.
