Requirements for training as a play therapist

Previous educational, social or therapeutic training is usually recommended for training as a play therapist, although this can vary depending on the provider. Training as a play therapist also requires an interest in developmental psychology and enjoyment of working with children. Many courses expect experience in counseling, supervision or creative work. Personal skills such as empathy and resilience are also often required.
