What content is taught to participants in an osteopathy course?
The content of an osteopathy course leading to a "school certificate (cert.)" is determined independently by the schools. There may therefore be differences from provider to provider.
It is also important to mention at this point that such courses are not the same as a full osteopathy degree (e.g. Master of Science in Osteopathy).
Basically, the following contents are taught in an osteopathy course (cert.):
- Introduction to osteopathy (e.g. history and philosophy, basic principles, osteopathic way of thinking & diagnosis, differentiation from other forms of manual therapy)
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Osteopathic examination techniques
- Treatment techniques
- Indications & contraindications
- Professional knowledge & legal basics
