In the field of podiatry, a basic distinction is made between two specializations: medical podiatry and cosmetic podiatry. A three-year basic apprenticeship with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training is required to work in the field of medical podiatry. A diploma from a College of Higher Education is required for self-employment in this field.
There are many training and further education opportunities in the field of cosmetic foot care. These take the form of courses that provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical application you need to be employed or work in your own practice. After completing the podiatry course, you will receive a diploma from the school in the relevant specialty, such as foot care, pedicure or foot reflexology.
