What do criminal psychologists do?
Criminal psychologists are dedicated to crime prevention and the treatment of criminals. They research how crime develops and how crime can be uncovered with the help of psychological methods. Criminal psychologists deal with the mental, social and psychological causes of the development and commission of crime. This includes topics such as the culpability of the accused, the credibility of witness statements and the presentation of evidence in court. The tasks include the preparation of expert opinions in guardianship proceedings on child endangerment, treatment and rehabilitation of offenders, release prognoses for prisoners and expert opinions on the credibility of witness statements.
