What is the difference between the IELTS test and a general English language test?
The IELTS test is an internationally recognized language certificate that is primarily required by educational institutions, employers and authorities. In contrast to a general English language test, which often only provides a rough assessment of the language level, the IELTS test specifically tests the four main skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The assessment is based on a standardized scoring system (band score from 0 to 9), which makes it ideal for official purposes. A simple English language test, on the other hand, is mostly used for personal assessment or course placement. The IELTS is accepted worldwide, especially for study visits, visa applications and professional qualifications. Depending on your goal, it is therefore important to choose the right test.
