Which is more valuable on the job market, a Master of Science (MSc) or a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS)?

Difference

  • A Master of Science is an educational master's degree from a Universities, i.e. the second stage of a university degree after a Bachelor's degree
  • A Master of Advances Studies is a continuing education master's degree from a Universities

Work performance in ECTS points:

  • If you consider the workload in ECTS points (ECTS = European Credit Transfer System / 1 ECTS point = 25-30 hours of work), the MSc should be rated better (MSc = 90-120 ECTS points / MAS = 60 ECTS points)
  • If you look at the thematic focus of the course, an employer may of course also prefer a person with an MAS if they have learned exactly the skills that the employer needs (example "MAS Online Marketing Management")
