The term forensics is used in medicine for a field of activity at the intersection of law and medicine or psychiatry. The term legal psychology has become established in the field of psychology - or forensic psychology.
However, legal psychology and forensic psychology are not the same thing. Forensic psychology is a branch of legal psychology and a field of activity in the area of criminal law. So the former for doctors and psychologists and the latter for psychologists studying legal psychology.
