With a homeopathy training course, such as an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in homeopathy or a diploma course at a College of Higher Education in human homeopathy or animal homeopathy, you have all the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become self-employed and open your own naturopathic practice. However, even after completing a course with a certificate, you could in principle work as a homeopath and competently treat patients homeopathically. In this case, you should make sure that you choose a course that is structured according to the EMR guidelines and is recognized by the EMR as a method and that the costs for your treatment are recognized by the supplementary health insurance companies. In addition to homeopathic training, you must also acquire basic medical knowledge, which is integrated into the relevant training. However, training alone does not necessarily entitle you to practice the profession. The regulations on professional licensing are cantonal, so you should always clarify these individually. This is not necessary for purely private use and you can also opt for a shorter course than the 500 hours according to EMR (plus 600 hours of training in conventional medicine).
