English diploma preparation courses in particular usually have a minimum duration of between 8 and 12 weeks, depending on the school. This does not apply to the IELTS or TOEFL test. Here the minimum course duration is significantly shorter, often only 2 weeks depending on the intensity. General language courses, also known as standard language courses, are offered at many schools for as little as one week.
