The course starts in February and lasts 8 semesters

During the 8 semesters (4 years), you will complete all the prescribed contact hours and take all 7 module examinations required for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE). You will receive all 7 module certificates and the Certificate of Completion in Art Therapy Movement and Dance Therapy. This gives you access to the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Art Therapy / Movement and Dance Therapy.

Learning takes place at tertiary level (MasterlevelI) in a movement-based and experiential way (see download ADTA_Movement based experiental learning.pdf). We convey the dance therapy learning content in such a way that you can understand all the specialist literature and thus become part of the international dance therapy community.

After registering for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), you can reclaim part of your training costs from the federal government (subject funding).

If you are a psychologist, psychotherapist, physiotherapist, doctor, nurse or teacher, we can give you credit for the course content you have already acquired in your original professional training.

With us you can

  • Complete the entire course with the module certificates for all modules (as a prerequisite for the AFPE)
  • attend individual modules and take the module exam
  • attend individual courses or subject-specific continuing education, further training independent of the AFPE with a continuing education certificate

We can accommodate you if you:

  • have an upper-secondary level qualification or a school-leaving certificate*
  • have a degree in a relevant profession (art, education, health) at continuing education and training / tertiary level A/B

*You will undergo an equivalence test. More information on request

The Curriculum for the Training Years

1st Year: Arrival
The focus is on the students themselves: their experience of movement, their learning process, and their personal histories. They become familiar with ZOE SCHOOL’s approach and meet their first instructors. The school administration provides them with close guidance throughout this process.

2nd Year: In-Depth Study
Step by step, the students expand their knowledge and skills: communication, anatomy in motion, depth psychology-based dance therapy, and group work. They learn to use movement and dance therapeutically.

3rd Year: Design and Application
Students develop their own play and present it in a performance. They deepen their understanding of trauma therapy and begin their internship, supported by supervision and mentorship.

4th Year: Graduation
Students complete their internship and case study and finalize their concept. With their knowledge of the profession and the fundamentals of law and finance, they are ready for the Swiss Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) and their careers as dance therapists.

Our image of man

zoe ArtsTherapy's view of the human being is based on the humanistic concept of being:
Every person is unique and is considered a good person from the ground up. Every person is unique and is seen as a developing personality that unfolds its potential. They are seen as individuals whose body, mind and soul are interwoven and influence each other. Their creative and communicative potential is recognized, recorded, valued and supported. It is expected that an individual can grant other people the same rights and enter into a discourse about them. The humanistic view considers this person to be embedded in an ecological and social environment with which they can resonate. They have a right to freedom as well as the right and responsibility to self-determination. This view of the human being focuses on the interaction of internal processes and the intrapsychic resonance with external circumstances. ) For this reason, we also regard people as holistic beings.

Susanne E. Laban-Bartenieff-Bewegungssystem (LBBS)
