Switzerland-wide survey: How much time per week are you prepared to invest in training or further education?

In January 2018, Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch launched a survey among prospective students in Switzerland. The question to be answered was "How much time are you willing to invest in training or further education per week?". The answers were often very surprising.

A total of 2064 people from different walks of life took part in the survey. The survey participants cover all age groups and sectors and come from different educational backgrounds.

What really surprised us at Ausbildung-Weiterbildung.ch was the high level of willingness to invest a lot of time in continuing education. Just under 16% of respondents are prepared to spend more than 15 hours per week on a course or self-study.

It is also astonishing that practically all those interested in education are aware that investing less than one hour per week in further training will hardly bring the desired learning success.

The largest proportion of survey participants - i.e. around 20 % of respondents - would like to invest around half a day a week in further training.

which is very realistic and in most cases easy to reconcile with the job. A further 18% are prepared to study five to six hours a week.

Almost a third of the survey results show that there is a high willingness to reduce the workload to around 80% or to take one day off per week for further training.

Around 16% of survey participants are even prepared to invest two days or more in their training.
